A NUTCRACKER CHRISTMAS:

The Houston Children’s Nutcracker returns to the stage this weekend for the 9th annual performance of the holiday classic at the San Jacinto College Fine Arts Center (13735 Beamer Rd., Houston) this Saturday and Sunday (12/17-18) with both evening and matinee performances at 2PM and 7PM. A holiday tradition for the entire family, the production features outstanding professional guest artists, talented members of Festival Ballet and some of the most promising young dancers from across Houston area -- and, of course, the memorable score by 19th century Russian composer Pytor Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

“The Nutcracker” is a holiday favorite for the ages -- from the Christmas tree that grows, spinning snowflakes and waltzing flowers, to the toy soldiers battling the Mouse King, and of course, the Nutcracker Prince, the Sugarplum Fairy and her dashing Cavalier. “It's a wonderful story that never grows old”, says Artistic Director Deborah Rayburn, “a beloved holiday tradition that touches the hearts of young and old alike”.
