A mythical kingdom guarded by an elegant Lilac Fairy, a beautiful princess and an evil curse all set the scene for one of the most beloved and romantic fairy tales, The Sleeping Beauty, performed by Festival Ballet, and The Academy of Ballet & Dance Arts, opening Saturday, June 18, 2:00 p.m. at Lake Jackson Intermediate School’s Forum Theater.

 

Adapted from the fairy tale by Charles Perrault, La Belle au bois dormant, Festival Ballet’s production will include the whimsical characters everyone has come to love including Princess Aurora, Prince Desire, the Lilac Fairy, an enchanted princess and Bluebird.  This two act ballet depicts the joyful christening of Princess Aurora and the evil curse that is cast upon her, only to be broken by an enchanted kiss by the handsome prince leading to a joyful wedding ceremony.

 

Festival Ballet’s production will feature Festival Ballet Company members, and includes local students from the Academy of Ballet & Dance Arts.
