Festival Ballet and The Academy of Ballet and Dance Arts will present its 2010 production of “Cinderella” with music by Prokofiev at 4 p.m. Saturday at the San Jacinto College South Fine Arts Center, 13735 Beamer Road in Houston.

Festival Ballet’s production will feature professional guest artist Ilya Kozadayev of the Houston Ballet as Prince Charming.

In addition to guest artists and Festival Ballet company members, this production includes  local dancers from The Academy of Ballet and Dance Arts.

“It is wonderful that our local dancers have the opportunity to work alongside Ilya Kozadayev,” Director Deborah Rayburn said. “The richness of his training from the Kirov Academy in Russia and American Ballet Theater is evident the moment he takes the stage alongside our local dancers. His dancing with Cinderella is simply beautiful.”

Local dancers appearing in “Cinderella” include: Sarah Lipp as Cinderella, Reagan Lynch as the Fairy Godmother, Emilie Boyett as the Summer Fairy, Victoria Johnstone as the Autumn Fairy, Katherine Scarborough as the Winter Fairy and Carly Mae Rotramel as the Spring Fairy.

“Once upon a time there was a handsome prince, a young girl with a dream of attending a ball at his palace and a wicked stepmother with two stepsisters who would stop at nothing to ruin her dream,” Rayburn said, describing the story of Cinderella (“little cinder girl”).

Festival Ballet is a 501 c-3 arts organization. Dance classes are offered to all area children  and open throughout the year.
