“Leaping into summer!” - Festival Ballet summer workshop

Woodlands Villager – 04/9/09

Festival Ballet will hold its annual Summer Intensive Workshop for dancer’s ages 10 to 25 years of age June 25th, 26th, and 27th at the Woodlands Dance Academy, 27220 Glen Loch in The Woodlands.

The workshop will offer each student an opportunity for intensive training in Classical Ballet, Pointe, Classical Repertoire, Variations, Pas de Deux, Modern, Musical Theater, and Jazz, providing a special curriculum focusing on developing the talents of each dancer. This intensive program is based on the Vaganova training method of classical ballet and is intended for students who want to advance their skills in this accelerated, but fun and informative learning environment.

The Guest faculty for this workshop will include international ballet stars Ilya Kozadayev and Alexander Pandiscio, both dancers are currently members of Houston Ballet.

In addition, local and international teachers and performers will also instruct dancers in areas of dance history, nutrition for dancers, careers in dance and acting for dancers.

“We like to provide our dance families with a little extra, or more than what they would expect, so our summer study staff has many planned many parent take home items and special extras this year, our focus is to teach and inspire” states Festival Ballet Artistic Director Deborah Rayburn.

“Inspiring greatness, from one dance generation to the next” says Artistic Director Deborah Rayburn, that is how the art form of classical ballet and all dance continues. We are honored that Ilya and Alexander share that common vision for the dancers.

A limited number of scholarships are available for dancers in this workshop.

A portion of the proceeds from this workshop will benefit the South Montgomery County Library.
