Recently,
ten dancers from The Woodlands Dance Academy have earned
placement and scholarships with the nations most prestigious ballet schools,
American Ballet Theater, Boston Ballet, Joffery Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet,
and University of Texas Dance Department. Admission was awarded contingent
upon auditions held throughout January.
Each dancer receives 15 to 17 hours of dance instruction each week at The
Woodlands Dance Academy. Presently these dancers are preparing for their
upcoming roles in Festival Ballet’s production of
Tchaikovsky’s The Sleeping Beauty, June 1 and 2 at The Montgomery College
Theater. Academy Director Deborah Rayburn states, “We are thrilled to work
with these talented young Artists at our school and in The Sleeping Beauty
production. They have reached a level of artistic excellence while maintaining
high academic grades. I believe the artistic staff and our board of directors
have provided them with the opportunities and the dancers have risen to the
occasion. They are a credit to their parents, The Academy, and the community".
